Kentia Palm – Howea forsteriana
Native | Part shade | Indoors – filtered sum | H up to 15m but in garden up to 5m | W 2-5m
An Australian native, occurring naturally on Lord Howe Island (from where it derives its genus name Howea), it has a slender trunk and a graceful crown of dark-green drooping fronds. The trunk can grow 5-15m (15-50′) tall, but in an open position (such as in a garden) rarely grows more than 5m. They thrive well as an indoor plant. Considered one of the most beautiful palms in the world.
Category / uses: ideal as garden feature plant. Does well as a lush indoor plant.
Position / care: prefers well drained soil, rich in organic matter. Fertilise at least once a year and water regularly, especially during dry periods. They grow well in coastal areas. Low maintenance.
