Clumping, non-invasive evergreen bamboo which grows naturally upright(most bamboo fan out wide) with attractive bushy green foliage. The natural footprint size of the clump is 1mtr however this wonderful species can be planted into narrow garden beds or maintained smaller to suit your needs, down to a minimum of 40cm. Gracilis is extremely quick growing and can be fully grown within 18 – 24 months, or quicker if you purchase more established sizes. new stems are produced during summer/ autumn.

Position / planting / care: Sunny position; free draining soil; frost tolerant. easily trimmable to keep size requirement. Does shed some leaves in winter and the sheath that protect the leaves, however, this makes for great self mulching and restricts weed growth. Regular watering the summer growth season. Add nitrogen (grass cuttings) / mulch to retain moisture. Fertilise with all purpose feed during the growing season.
