Category / Uses: a spectacular specimen tree for large garden beds; suited to street/avenue plantings.
Position/ planting: thrives in sunny locations protected from hot, dry winds. Prefers a moist well draining soil rich in organic matter. Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Water in well even if the soil is moist.
Care: mulch well to conserve soil moisture and suppress weeds. Mulching will improve soil structure and ensure a cool root zone. Fertilise in spring and prune to shape as required.
